Lee Nelson joined the State Properties Commission in March 2020 as Assistant Director and Leasing Manager.
Prior to the SPC, he worked in institutional settings at both the University of Florida, responsible for real estate strategic planning, asset management, and transactions, and the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, where he worked with the 31 schools of the System to coordinate and execute real estate issues and transactions.
Nelson also has significant experience on the private investment / development side, last at Colonial Properties Trust, a publicly traded REIT, where he was Senior Vice President of Asset Management and Strategic Planning, and with private equity investment and development on properties throughout the southeast and southwest in numerous roles. He has been involved with over $2 billion worth of commercial investment properties, responsible at various times for acquisitions, development, dispositions, asset management, and operations.
Nelson received a degree in economics from Yale University in New Haven CT. He is active in industry groups, including the Association of University Real Estate Officials, the National Association of Office and Industrial Properties, and as past President of the Real Estate Group of Atlanta.
